I am amazed by the strength of my daughter and the youth of these latter days. They must be extremely courageous and not afraid to sometimes stand alone when it seems the unpopular thing to do. A talk during Conference has stayed with me. It was given by Elder W. Craig Zwick. Here is a small excerpt:
"Never forget that you are a son or daughter of God. He loves you. Live by your standards. Stand up for what you believe in. Sometimes it is not easy, and you may be standing alone for awhile. Look for friends with integrity and character. Pray for guidance and protection from the Lord. He will sustain you. He will become a trusted friend, and you will discover that your example will attract many friends who will take courage from your strength of character." He closes with one of my favorite scriptures that I marked while I was serving my mission in Seoul, Korea. It is D&C 6:34,36: "Therefore, fear not, little flock; do good; let earth and hell combine against you, for if ye are built upon my rock, they cannot prevail. . . . Look unto me in every thought; doubt not, fear not."
Maddison, you are shining example to me. Continue on the path you are on! It is straight and narrow. You will skip, saunter, run and even stumble but as long you remain on this perfect path, each step will build you, strengthen you and guide you to a safe and ever so joyful place! I love you beyond expression!
